The health of our trails, mountains and environment are fundamental to the pursuit of trail & ultra running. I support a number of charities and activists who put protecting such environments and the way we produce and consume products, at the heart of their mission.
“POW UK’s mission is to change the narrative on climate change, educating and empowering passionate individuals to take simple and rewarding actions, which will in turn create consumer and corporate pressure for sustainable products and investments.
The past decade has been the warmest on record, with 2015 the warmest year ever. Meanwhile, the northern hemisphere has already lost a million square miles of spring snowpack since 1970—an area three times the size of Texas. Snow levels are rising in elevation and winters are shorter. Climate change is already affecting winter.
Right now, we have the luxury of worrying about how climate change might impact the outdoor industry. Right now, we get to help dictate the outcome rather than react to a foregone conclusion. If we sit on our hands for the next two decades, we won’t be worried about powder days, tourism or having fun. We’ll be worried about the stability of our environment, our jobs and our economy.”
“Trash Free Trails is about keeping our priceless trails litter free and making sure people know just how important they are”
“We’re a community dedicated to the protection of oceans, waves, beaches and wildlife. We fight long and hard to protect what we love and we won’t stop until it’s completely clean, safe and protected for everyone, forever.
From humble beginnings in Porthtowan Village Hall in 1990, we’ve stayed close to our roots and continue to be based just up the road at our St Agnes HQ where we can keep an eye on the sea.
Just 12 of us work in the office full time, but it’s really thanks to people like you who support our work through membership donations, volunteering, signing petitions, buying from our shop and spreading the word that allows our impact to be widely felt.”
