Camp Endeavour 2019 – Maverick x Run Namaste Eat

The eagle eyed would recall seeing Maverick Races hosted Camp Endeavour earlier this year in the Chamonix valley. For 2019, they are getting way ahead of the game and have already released dates for Camp Endeavour, hosted by Maverick Races and Run Namaste Eat.

Friday 19th – Sunday 21st July 2019

As someone currently sat in Chamonix typing (it’s my last day, I don’t want to go back to Milton Keynes) I can certify that is an incredible place for trail running. I could go as far to say, it’s almost purpose built for trail running. Endless trails for all abilities, refuges for midway stops, fountains galore, good public transport and a valley that doesn’t mind seeing you in tiny split shorts, a vest and hydration pack. If anything, they encourage it. Remember, this is the home of UTMB and a series of trail and ultra races throughout every year.

Camp Endeavour is led by GB Ultra Athlete Tom Bonn Payn and his partner Rach Bonn Payn, who are the people behind Run Namaste Eat, holding running, yoga and plant based camps in the mountains. More than just a training camp, on signing up, you will be  asked to submit your current training and running levels, as you will be provided a personal training plan prior to head out. Never a better time to optimise your fitness before entering the valley. However, it’s not all about running in the mountains.

When you’ve kicked off your shoes, slung the pack to the side and caught your breath, you will be given tips and taken through yoga moves, to unlock your mobility and prepare you for the next day. Mobility is an overlooked area of running and one, which I can vouch for personally, that when you get into a good routine, can increase your speed and enjoyment without having to work any harder.

inov-8 will be providing demo kit to test in the mountains, Precision Hydration a bespoke hydration plan and there will be a goody bag from the two brands, plus Maverick Apparel. Who doesn’t like a goody bag?

It should be stressed, Camp Endeavour is aimed at all abilities and both Tom and Rach are Mountain Leaders, so you’re in safe and experienced hands. Furthermore, with their intimate knowledge of the valley, they can find the perfect trails for you.
