Following on from the global success of the Golden Trail World Series which culminated in elite athletes from around the world competing in the final in Nepal, 2020 sees the launch of a UK series.
The objective of the UK series will be the same, to bring together the best athletes on the national circuit in four acclaimed races over a variety of distances and terrain whilst sharing the same philosophies of the world series: showing and protecting nature and the mountains in which we compete and bring together the most passionate players in the sport of trail running.
2020 rounds
Trail Marathon Wales – 20th June
The Salomon Serpent Trail 50km – 11th July
Scafell Pike Marathon – August 16th
Ring of Steall – Glencoe Skyline (Series Final) – 19th September
UK Organiser Dom Edge-McKee “Salomon is funding ten complimentary places at each race which will give UK athletes the chance to compete with the best and try to win a place on the world stage. Competitors will have to take part in at least three UK races, including the national series final in Scotland. Following the final round, their three best scores will be added up and the top three highest scoring competitors will be invited to the Azores Trail Run for the grand final of the National Series, to compete with the winners from the other European Golden Trail National Circuits. It’s a great springboard to compete at an international level and will showcase the UK’s incredible running talent.”
Runners interested in the complimentary places must be ranked on ITRA and can apply via the on-line entry form here.
