Mountain Run Courses & Guided runs for Winter/Spring 2020

You may remember back in October I spent the weekend with Mountain Run, on their Ultra Mountain/Trail Running Skills Weekend, based in Patterdale. The team headed by Charles Sproson have launched their dates for this coming winter/spring, which feature a mixture of guided runs and courses.Mountain Run Ultra Weekend Oct 2019 119If you fancy a midweek adventure, the team have their Cold Moon Guided Full Moon run, over the famous Fairfield Horseshoe this Wednesday 11th December. 4 hours of classic lakes running kicks off at from the Ambleside uni campus at 1830hrs. Want to howl at the moon? Friday 10th January 2020 sees the Wolf Moon Guided Full Moon Run, taking on the famous edges of Helvellyn, Striding and Swirral Edge, along with Catstycam. Kicking off at 1930 and meeting in Glenridding, its 4 hours that offers a mixture of great trails and exposure. On Saturday 11th January, Mountain Run are hosting their Winter Navigation for Runners refresher course. A combination of classroom theory and 4+ hours on the fells, tea, coffee and cake are on hand to keep your brain on point. With a large percentage of mountain mishaps coming down to not being able to navigate when the weather rolls in, night descends or white outs, for anyone entering the mountains this mountain who needs a confidence boost or wishes to sharpen their tools, this could be a great opportunity to do so. Mountain Run are offering one day intensive courses, covering kit to take, navigation, axe arrests, running in crampons and more. Ultra Trail Running Skills Weekend – 13-15th March 2020 – you may recognises the photos….. A full weekend, full board at Patterdale YHA (which is pretty epic), elite runners, yoga, skills sessions, navigation and great social downtime. Who’s a sky runner or fancied taking a race on? The 24th-26th April sees Mountain Run, in association with Scafell Sky Race, lead an Introduction to Skyrunning weekend in Great Langdale. The weekend aims to increase your confidence in running on technical terrain, right up to non graded scrambles. Skyrunning is famed for its exposure, tackling rocky trails, scree slopes, open rocky ground and ascending/descending steep slopes. Full details of the weekend can be found HERE.ROS 2019 SCOTTWant to turn your Skyrunning up to 11? 8th-10th May sees the Advanced Skyrunning course, based out of Patterdale. Learn to gain confidence running on ridge lines, scrambling and running on unstable terrain. You have to understand the consequences to move safely and efficiently, especially in a race scenario. The 6th year of the course, in association with Lakes Sky Ultra and Pinnacle Ridge Extreme. All details can be found HERE.
