At least another 3 weeks of lock down (for the UK) were announced last night and for many, despite expecting it, it’s a blow, with plans for heading to the mountains in this pretty epic April weather now extinguished.
Furthermore, those in urban areas, especially cities such as London have the greatest loss in terms of connection to the wilderness.
The London Mountain Film Festival was due to be held at the Royal Geographic Society, or RGS on the 2nd and 3rd of May 2020. Clearly, this isn’t possible under the current rules, however, all is not lost.
The London Mountain Film Festival has gone virtual
As well as watching epic films, you have the option to donate to the filmmakers if you like what you can see. Given we can’t access our wild spaces to explore, race and push our personal boundaries, the incredible talent that creates the films we love are also unable to head out and create future content gold.
Throughout the weekend, keep on top of the social feed, there will be prizes, YES PRIZES, drawn every 2 hours, over the daytime hours of the weekend. All that is required to get involved and stand a chance of winning, leave a comment or review on the feed. You don’t need to be a wordsmith, prizes are drawn at random.
The films are broad ranging – from running, to climbing, endurance & mountaineering.
In order to gain access, you will need to subscribe to to the LMFF website and a link that’ll unlock the bounty will arrive on Saturday 2nd May.
You can watch what you want, when you want, as much as you want.
Just make sure you watch.
& donate to filmmakers where you can
