The Sheffield Adventure Film Festival has grown over the years to become one of the world’s premier outdoor and adventure big screen gatherings. I’ve volunteered as a host for screenings, put up signs and everything in between. I have a relationship with the festival, they are a family, rather than a show as such.
This year, Montane are headline sponsor of the Sheffield-based event which is due to run from 9-11th July 2021.
Grass-roots events such as ShAFF continue to be an important part of Montane’s outreach activity due to the high quality of interactions with communities that are active and passionate about the outdoors.
ShAFF and Montane share a common goal; to inspire the community to seek their own adventures, challenge themselves and take action to protect the environments we adventure in. As an event, it acts as a cultural touchstone for the outdoor community, engaging newcomer and stalwart alike.

ShAFF scours the world for the best new adventure films and curate them into programmes that are surprising, energetic, challenging and uplifting. They reflect the diversity of the outdoor experience, giving a window into other places, people, and perspectives as well as our own.
Montane shares ShAFF’s ideology of encouraging the spirit of adventure to build a community passionate about the enjoyment and preservation of the worlds wild environments. The announcement about this partnership has been made on the original date of this years festival, and one year to the day since it was postponed due to the COVID crisis. It is hoped this sends the message that the festival – and the resolve of the outdoor community as a whole – is emerging out of the trails of the previous 12 months stronger than ever.

Adrenaline, Best of ShAFF, Biking, Caving, Climbing, Environment / Activism, Running, Spirit of Adventure, VR, Water and Young Adventurers.
These are collections of films, some short, some long. Professionally shot and amateur side by side. The best of what has been submitted by the outdoor community.

With limited capacity due to current indoor restrictions, it is highly advised to book any sessions you wish to attend.
