Autumn Litter Watch – Trash Free Trails gets spooky

Twas the night before….. wrong month

I’ve never been one for halloween; fancy dress, bad tricks, egged houses and a constant knock at the door. I’m sure right now you’re thinking I sound like 78 rather than 30, but hey, I like calm.

However, this halloween

When knocking on strangers doors and plunging hands into bowls of sweets if off the cards, there is an alternative. One which the whole family can get involved with and, more importantly, one which has a direct impact on your local trails, our trails.

Trash Free Trails Autumn Litter Watch

Kick starting tomorrow, October 23rd the Autumn Litter Watch runs till the 30th October, with 4 simple steps that all add up to big actions on our trails and wild places. Rather than pillaging plastic wrapped sugar, the team of crack trail cleaning commandos are calling for everyone, young and older, runner, riders and ramblers, to take to the wild places we love and take part in one of four actions.

Of course, if you want, you can do all the challenges and enter your results into the State Of Our Trails Report, becoming a recognised legend in the process.

But what are these tasks, challenges, actions?

Below are some epic videos; shot, edited and starring the Trash Free Trails A-Team, a band of trail renegades, who rather than simply shred and charge to KOM’s, use part of their free time on their local trails to take ownership, clean and spread the message to other users far and wide.

Following on from the videos, theres an info graphic from the uber talented Beth (check out her website here!) which explain the simple steps to ghoulish trail satisfaction.

Most of all, remember to have fun, share your micro trash terrorising adventures and stay Covid safe. Yes, I said that word. I apologise. The last thing we want want (I’m one of the A-Team members) is one of you, your friends, family or those you come into contact getting the virus, so please, make sure you wash your hands and take the appropriate precautions.
