I’ve been a qualified volunteer Community First Responder with South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust for 12 days shy of a year. It’s been a eye opener & rewarding experience, serving the communities in & around Milton Keynes, supporting frontline teams on 999 calls, aswell as providing first aid cover for events, even being part of the Queen’s Funeral at Windsor Castle
On January 1st I started walking 5km everyday of January with a 15kg response bag, the equivalent weight of my response bag and defibrillator. Given the weather this time of the year, I’m using water bottles rather than equipment
South Central Ambulance Charity fund the training, uniform, equipment & vehicles we use to respond to 999 calls, as well as funding other volunteers such as volunteer car drivers, welfare volunteers and BASICS paramedics
I’m walking to raise funds to continue their ability to support Community First Responders from here in Milton Keynes, down to our southerly colleagues in Southampton, as well as all other volunteers they enable to provide services that benefit our closest family, friends and communities
If you see me walking around Newport Pagnell in the dark before work each day, be sure to say hello
